Airflo Off the Grid Studios

A film concept

The Airflo story.

A question that started in Wales.

Scroll

Not a film about fly lines.A film about the people who never stopped asking how it could be better.

The story

One film. Three threads.

  1. WalesThe question.Airflo has made fly lines in Brecon since 1984. The people who asked why a line has to be made the way it always was, in the place they asked it.
  2. ColoradoThe proof.Part of Mayfly Outdoors since 2019, with a team in Colorado. The people who carry the idea forward and put it to the test, season after season.
  3. The waterThe endurance.Guides, teachers, mechanics and fishing bums. Real days, real wear, and what it means to be built to endure.

How it should feel

Never like a commercial.

A documentary that happens to be about the people behind a fly line. Slow, human and honest.

  • Archive photographs and the voices of the people who built it
  • The factory floor in Wales, filmed up close
  • Pacing that lets ideas land, and music that feels earned
  • Faded hats, dented trucks, and friends laughing at mistakes

The plan · Q1

Two stops. One story.

  1. FirstBack to Wales.Fly to Brecon and film with everyone there. The factory, the archive and the people, in one trip.
  2. ThenOut on the water.Take part of the Airflo team fishing. Q1 trout fishing is hard to shoot in the States, so go where it is summer.
Option one New Zealand. A standing invitation, and a simple trip with people I know there.
Option two South America. Also a standing invitation. Good connections, and easy to keep light and affordable.

Whichever suits the team and the schedule. Both keep the crew small.

What you get

The story, told once.

  • One film that tells the Airflo story from Wales to the water
  • Short chapters for every channel
  • The fishing trip as its own honest, unguarded piece
  • Archive and factory footage that stays useful for years
Airflo Off the Grid Studios

Let's tell it.

Wales in Q1. Then the water.
